Junior Tennis Lessons at Wanless Park

The Wanless Board is following the City of Toronto’s protocols to aid in helping to keep our members, staff, and community safe and healthy when using our facility. For our After School Clinics we’ve had to adjust some of our past practices. As such for 2020:

  • Under the City’s new guidelines all clinics will operate with a maximum of 6 to 1 ratio student to teacher
  • There will be no early drop offs
  • There will be no use of ball machines
  • Attendees must be at least 7 years old
  • Clinics will be offered weather permitting only as there is no clubhouse access
  • Attendees must use the hand sanitizer regularly and adhere to strict social distancing guidelines as directed by the instructors
  • Attendees must not handle teaching balls; however can move them with racquet or feet
  • Attendees will be able to use the clubhouse washroom, escorted by the club monitor who will ensure proper sanitation in between uses

One of Toronto’s best-known Junior Tennis programs is run by our Head Pro, Arthur Wolf (Tennis Canada – Certified) Coach 2 and Club Pro 3, who will be returning for his 27th season with his team of certified instructors and assistants.

At Wanless Tennis, our pathway to success uses the principles of Progressive Tennis in all of our lesson programs. The program design includes a six-to-one student-to-instructor ratio target, and only qualified certified instructors are used.

Tennis Clinics and Dates for 2020

At Wanless, we offer clinics that are customized for different skill levels of our junior members. We believe in building strong tennis skills and sportsmanship from a young age and nurturing this skillset through each level – from Novice through Intermediate levels to High Performance. Learn more about the different levels on our Progressive Tennis page.

In place of our usual clinics, for 2020 we are offering a Fall Tennis program which will run for 4 weeks. Our September clinic begins the week of September 7 and consists of 1 hour clinics 2 times per week for 4 weeks. Lessons are on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays and take place from 4 PM to 5 PM or from 5 PM to 6 PM. The cost of each clinic is $140.

This program will repeat in October, starting on Monday October 5 for 4 weeks.

All of the details for each of the clinics are outlined in the tabs below, including duration, days and times for the different levels.

  • NOVICE – ages 7 to 9 using orange balls
  • INTERMEDIATE – ages 10 and up using green dot balls
  • ADVANCED – using yellow balls
