Laura Borza, Head Pro
Laura is certified by the TPA (Tennis Professionals Association) as a Club Pro 2 and Coach 3 with 15 years experience. Laura was born in Romania and grew up in Canada where she developed her passion and love of tennis. As a junior, she was consistently ranked in the top 5 in Canada and played on the U18 ITF (International Tennis Federation) circuit until she went on a full tennis scholarship to the College of Charleston (NCAA Division 1) where she graduated with a degree in Business.
In 2021, Laura traveled on the WTA professional tour with Canadian Doubles player Sharon Fichman. Fichman and her partner reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and qualified for the year end WTA finals that year. Prior to joining Wanles and in future off-seasons, Laura will be traveling with Tennis Canada and Canada’s top ranked juniors.
Laura has a passion for the game which has driven her to launch various initiatives and programs to enhance member experience and engagement throughout her career. She can be described as a warm, approachable, engaged, creative and focused tennis professional with strong communication skills. She is as enthusiastic about the recreational player as she is the experienced, competitive player and is excited to combine her various experiences to create a thriving environment for adults and juniors to develop their skills and passion for the game.
Off court, Laura is a golf enthusiast with a very bad handicap and is a fan of Crossfit. She looks forward to getting to know the members of our tennis community throughout the upcoming season.
Cyprien Tacq, Assistant Pro
Cyprien Tacq is a certified Tennis Canada Club Professional 2 coach with 8 years of experience and a sports management degree.
He has been at Wanless Tennis since 2018, coaching tennis players of all ages and skill levels through private lessons, camps, clinics and team practices. More recently, he has created new programming to meet members’ needs such as LiveBall and Match Play.
He also currently coaches with the high-performance clinics at the Fainblum Tennis Academy with Mayfair East & Parkway Clubs where he has helped players go on to compete at the provincial, national, D1, D2, and junior ITF levels.
David Sole, Assistant Pro
David is certified by the TPA as a Club Pro 1 and started teaching tennis in 1990 at the renowned Peter Burwash International Manitou-Wabing tennis camp in Parry Sound, Ontario, where he was trained by Peter Burwash himself.
After teaching at Manitou for 3 years, David became Head Pro at Forest Hill Tennis Club where he stayed for 3 years. He then taught at The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club and The Boulevard Club. Most recently David has been teaching at Oakdale Golf & Country Club, Thorncliffe Park Tennis Club and North Toronto Tennis Club.
Off court David enjoys traveling, often to New Orleans, attending concerts, music festivals and sporting events.
