Philpott Fund Logo For the 2nd year we are encouraging the community to support the Doug Philpott Inner-City Children's Tennis Fund. Our goal is to raise $1000 for this worthwhile cause. You can do this by purchasing a donation in our on-line store. You will receive a charitable receipt at the end of the year from the Fund.

Since 1991, the Philpott Children’s Tennis Fund has helped introduce Toronto’s inner-city children to tennis. Founded out of a desire to honour the memory of Doug Philpott – one of the great folk heroes of Canadian tennis – the Fund provides free lessons, from qualified coaches and instructors, to kids throughout Toronto’s diverse neighbourhoods. Here, coaches teach not only the basics of the game, but also help participants learn valuable life lessons about discipline, cooperation and self-confidence.

The bargraph to the right shows the amount raised to date.
Blue represents the amount raised - Orange represents the amount left to reach our goal.

A Big Shout Out to member Jim McDonough celebrating his 50th year of membership at Wanless Park Tennis. Way to go, Jim!

Heartbleed Advisory

Around April 7th, a vulnerability was discovered in encryption software used by the majority of sites on the Internet. This flaw, the Heartbleed Bug, potentially reveals normally encrypted information, like passwords, to potential attackers. Our server was patched before this information became widespread and as far as we know there was no information exposed. Also be aware that we do not store any credit card information on our servers.

Despite the fact that we don’t think any information was compromised, we highly suggest users change their Wanless store account password. Because Heartbleed affected so many sites, consider changing ALL of your passwords across the web. We suggest updating these passwords on a regular basis, which many of us don’t think to do until an incident like this happens. Consider using different passwords for each site you use. That way if one password is compromised, not all of your passwords are compromised. Also be sure to install all security updates issued by your operating system vendors.
