Wanless Tennis New Head Pro, Laura Borza

Laura Borza photo The Wanless Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the appointment of our new Head Pro, Laura Borza. Laura is certified by the TPA (Tennis Professionals Association) as a Club Pro 2 and Coach 3. Over the past 12 years, Laura has been working at the Toronto Cricket and Skating Club where she was heavily involved with all aspects of their tennis programming, house leagues, and inter-club teams.

Laura was born in Romania and grew up in Canada where she developed her passion and love of tennis. As a junior, she was consistently ranked in the top 5 in Canada and played on the U18 ITF (International Tennis Federation) circuit until she went on a full tennis scholarship to the College of Charleston (NCAA Division 1) where she graduated with a degree in Business.

In 2021, Laura was asked to travel on the WTA professional tour with Canadian Doubles player Sharon Fichman. Fichman and her partner reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and qualified for the year end WTA finals that year. Prior to joining Wanless, and in future off-seasons, Laura will be traveling with Tennis Canada and Canada’s top ranked juniors, as well as continuing to work at the Toronto Cricket and Skating Club during the Winter season.

Laura has a passion for the game which has driven her to launch various initiatives and programs to enhance member experience and engagement throughout her career. She can be described as a warm, approachable, engaged, creative and focused tennis professional with strong communication skills. She is as enthusiastic about the recreational player as she is the experienced, competitive player and is excited to combine her various experiences to create a thriving environment for adults and juniors to develop their skills and passion for the game.

Off court, Laura is a golf enthusiast with a very bad handicap and is a fan of Crossfit. She looks forward to getting to know the members of our tennis community throughout the upcoming season.
