News for August

We hope everyone is having a great summer so far! We have some news to share as we enter the month of August.

Court Resurfacing

As we announced earlier this year, all five courts are scheduled to be resurfaced in early August. Resurfacing will provide members with a more consistent surface that will play a little slower, dry more quickly, and eliminate odd bounces from cracks, bumps, and valleys in the surface. The resurfacing project will require that the courts be closed for up to two weeks (depending on weather).

Resurfacing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 3. Courts have been blocked off on GameTime from Tuesday, August 3 to Friday, August 13. The ability for resurfacing to begin and progress depends on the weather prior to the start date and during the process. If resurfacing starts later than scheduled or is completed prior to Friday, August 13, courts will be unblocked accordingly.

Members can use the “Waitlist” feature on GameTime in order to stand-by for courts in case they are unblocked.

COVID-19 Protocols

We are making changes to the following COVID-19 protocols, effective when court resurfacing is complete and courts reopen:

• Member Service Representatives will no longer sanitize the courts between court bookings.
• However, players will still have to wait outside the courts for the Member Service Representative to ask them COVID-19 screening questions prior to entering the courts.
• Players will now be able to play for the full 60 minutes of court booking. (To be consistent with matches played prior to the resurfacing, House League and Ladder matches will still be to 12 points. With the Fall session of House League and the next session of the Ladders, the number of games to be played will be increased to 14.)
• Members will no longer be instructed to wear masks while waiting to be pre-screened and checked-in by Member Services Representatives. Physical distancing must still be maintained, and it is our recommendation that members wear masks while waiting for check-in.
• We will be reinstating socials. Although pizza will not be served, prepackaged individual servings may be provided. Watch for announcements of upcoming social events once the courts reopen.
