News Regarding Provincially-Mandated Closure

Hi everyone,

We all share the disappointment and frustration with the current stay-at-home order that includes the closure of tennis facilities and other outdoor amenities.

Many members of Wanless and other tennis clubs have signed petitions to encourage the Provincial government to reconsider their policy. Many members of the health and scientific community have expressed their opinion that tennis is a safe outdoor activity and improves mental health. In light of these facts, we had hoped that the government would revise their stance with respect to tennis.

Recently the Ontario Tennis Association met with the Premier’s office to urge the Provincial government to reconsider. Unfortunately, the province is standing firm on their existing policy and is not considering any changes with regard to tennis and other outdoor activities at this time.

While nothing is certain, we do hope we can start playing tennis as soon as the current stay-at-home order expires on May 20.

We will continue to share whatever news we have, as soon as we get it. In the meantime stay well and stay healthy.
