Here’s a description of how it works:
• Each player will be placed in a box with 5 to 6 other players of equal playing ability.
• You are responsible to arrange your own matches, supply match balls, book courts and contact the members within the box to play.
• You have approximately a month to complete all matches within your box to determine who moves up, stays or moves down.
• Matches are played to 10 games, or, total number of games completed within the allotted hour. Regular scoring is in effect, i.e., play out the deuces like the US Open
• The winner of the match is responsible to record the score. Please do so on the score sheet posted in the clubhouse (on the bulletin board) and also on your own copy at home upon the completion of each match to ensure your points are counted towards your total. If the clubhouse is closed, please leave a message on the clubhouse line at 416-483-4546 with the details of your match (both players’ names and the score for each player).
• Any un-played matches will be given a score of zero and be counted towards your total in the end which could determine whether you move up or down in the standings (boxes)
• Given that participation is key to the success of the ladder; if a player has contacted you a minimum of two times and each time you have been unable to play or provide an alterative time a default and a score of 10-0 will be awarded to the player attempting to arrange the match.
• Depending on the number of players in your box; the top 2 players in each box may move up the ladder and the players with the lowest scores will move down.
• Winners of each box will be the recipient of an award for their efforts; along with moving up to the next box.
A suggestion to set up your initial match would be to email all those in your box to see who is available to play when you are available. Then book a court using the electronic booking system.
